Community Connection: Opioid Epidemic
Local business networking organization BizCon-X of Central Maryland is hosting an amazing speaker event in Howard County on the Opioid Crisis and the ability to identify Overdose as well as qualifying people to administer Narcan in emergency situations! This is a great way to raise your awareness and develop your preparedness for an issue that is affecting our county right here in our own communities.
Join us as we welcome Kathryn Larkins, Risk Reduction Educator for Howard County Fire & Rescue, on August 8th, 2018 from 5-7:00pm at THE Pearl!
BizCon-X is excited to welcome Kathryn Larkins! Ms. Larkins, EMT-I, Risk Reduction Educator, has been a part of the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services since 2011. Katie has experience as an EMS volunteer at Station 6 for Savage Volunteer Fire Company and is currently an EMS provider for the Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department. For the past five years, she has functioned as a Volunteer EMT-Basic, has completed her EMT-Intermediate and pursuing her EMT- Paramedic, as well as holding the rank of EMS Coordinator with the Savage VFC. For the last 15 years, Katie has also functioned as an Emergency Room Technician in various hospitals throughout the Baltimore/DC metro area. She joined the HCDFRS Community Outreach Team in 2014.
She will share some of the issues we are facing locally with the Opioid Epidemic and will teach us how to administer Narcan in the case of an overdose.
