Overview

Join us at Impact Hub for a hands-on, interactive activity designed to deepen our understanding of how urban apartheid works in America.

On Saturday, March 14th we are going to meet IN PERSON at Impact Hub in Baltimore! Impact Hub, 10 E North Ave Suite 5, Baltimore, MD 21202.

We will build on our January conversation about how redlining continues to perpetuate segregation, disamenities and the disenfranchisement of communities of people of color in Baltimore and throughout the USA.

We will open with watching a film produced by Charles Cohen called, The Birth of the Black Butterfly. Dr. Lawrence Brown, author of The Black Butterfly (The harmful politics of race and space in America) will then facilitate an engaging activity which will deepen our understanding of how urban apartheid works in America. A Q&A session will follow to support integration and inspired action.

Attendees are encouraged to read Chapter 2 of The Black Butterfly book. We love supporting Urban Reads bookstore, owned by an ally, Tia Hamilton, a local black business owner. If you can get your copies there, that would be fabulous. You can buy your copies there or order online at https://www.urbanreadsbookstore.com/.

Reading this chapter is recommended by Dr. Brown but not required.

Parking: Be sure to park on the street and NOT in the lot next to Impact Hub or your car will be towed.
