Do You Need to Become a Member?
No—attendance is open to all.

Many people attend services, classes, or events without ever formally joining.

Membership deepens connection. If you feel called to invest your time, talent, and treasure—and to help guide the community—membership is a natural next step.

Being a “member” refers to “ownership” by formally affiliating yourself with Columbia/Greater Baltimore Center for Spiritual Living. While you don’t need to be a member to attend services, here’s what membership involves:

📜 Commitment & Values

Affirmation of Belief:
You acknowledge your alignment with the core tenets of Science of Mind: oneness, the creative power of thought, and the activity of spiritual law responding to thought.

Living the Principles:
You pledge to practice Spiritual Mind Treatments, meditation, visioning, and affirmations in your daily life.

Ethical Conduct:
You agree to uphold integrity, honesty, and personal responsibility—reflecting “Spirit in action” in all relationships.

🤝 Community Participation

Voting Rights:
Members elect our Board of Trustees and vote on important matters (e.g., by-laws, minister selection, and other major decisions that shape our community).

Service Opportunities:
You’re invited to serve on committees that help shape our Center’s ministries.

🎁 Benefits & Resources

Spiritual Counseling and Practitioner Sessions:

  • Members can request and receive one FREE personalized spiritual counseling session per year with Rev. Rafe.
  • Members can request and receive one FREE personalized Practitioner session per year with one of our Licensed Practitioners.

Discounts & Scholarships:

💖 Financial Support

Tithing or Membership Dues:
While there are no mandatory fees or dues, it is anticipated that members to commit to a regular giving plan (often 5–10% of income) to support the Center’s operations, staff, outreach, and growth.

Transparency & Stewardship:
Members may request and receive regular financial reports and are encouraged to participate as stewards of how funds are used to further the mission through regular communication with members of our Board of Trustees.
