Youth & Family

Nothing makes an impact in the world like bringing generations of young people together and enriching them and their families.

Our community is committed to having an intergenerational quality that values and prioritizes the spiritual enrichment of children and families. We believe that empowering young children with the skills to identify their feelings and practice their spirituality is a gift that lasts a lifetime.

We have a thriving Youth & Family program for you and your family and we’re excited to help your family become part of our community’s long-term legacy.

[maxtitle maxtitle_content=”YOUTH AND TEEN GROUP CO-LEADER”]

Hello! My name is Rachel Beall, I am currently a senior in high school and I am so excited to co-lead the youth and family program at our church! I was raised in this church and faith. As I have aged out of the youth and family program, I have joined (and loved!) the teen program. I have also developed lessons for children, taught in “Funday School,” and provided childcare services on Sunday. I absolutely love this community and I am so excited to work with the leadership team and create wonderful and exciting plans.

My name is Claudia Jaffa. I would like to give you abit of my backstory. I have been with Columbia CSL for approximately 18 years. I started  the Teen Group from scratch. It was just blossoming on the East Coast and Rev. Bill became our regional director. He helped me tremendously and I am forever grateful! Rev Nancy then supported the teens in every way imaginable. It was magical, creative and the teen group blossomed. I was also part of the choir for many years and worked fundraising predominantly for the teens.

I started a kindergarten for the underprivileged in the Middleburg area of Virginia in the 1970’s. I taught piano and organ to adolescents for many years. I also taught middle school, challenged teens and developed a music program for The Vanguard School for autistic children. I then moved to a totally different field and sold medical equipment and became the Director for the Mid Atlantic region. I hired and trained all of my staff which was exciting and fulfilling.

Everything came to a screeching halt when I was diagnosed with Lyme’s Disease. That was 10 years ago and it has been a long road to where I am today. I am not cured but incredibly improved. I am thrilled to be a part of the church leadership once again and look forward to working with the wonderful Board of Trustees and the other members of the Dream Team!!!

This program teaches the same Principles Funday School in a slightly deeper and more complex way to stimulate and challenge these brilliant young minds. This special program is in addition to the regular Funday School held every Sunday.

Built around experiential workshops, this program is designed to help empower Teens to use critical thinking and apply spiritual practices to their daily lives as well as develop deep and meaningful relationships with one another.
